Clave Y Cuba Collective Brings The Beat to "wRit·u·al"

On March 26th, Clave Y Cuba gathered musicians from its collective for a performance to celebrate the opening of COCO 144's (Roberto Gualtieri) solo art exhibit titled "wRit·u·al".

COCO, a Puerto Rican-Italian New Yorker most widely recognized as one of the first renowned pioneers of the graffiti culture, is a big fan of Cuban rumba. After nearly two years of COVID lockdowns, the artist was excited to showcase his work and wanted to do something extra special for his opening.

COCO reached out to Clave Y Cuba's founder and dear friend Ivan Moreno, with a request —come through with authentic Afro-Cuban vibes.

Check out highlights from the evening on the official Clave Y Cuba Instagram. The showcase was sponsored in part by the ELM Foundation, a Brooklyn-based organization promoting the healing power of the arts.

If you were there, you know it was a get down!
