Roots, Rhythm, & Rumba At Place Bridge Academy

Clave Y Cuba’s Colorado-based collective of musicians showed out for an epic performance at Place Bridge Academy (PBA), Denver’s most culturally and linguistically diverse school. The 45-minute-long performance featuring Cuban Rumba, güiro, and Batá rhythms, song, and dance was coordinated to celebrate the school’s international night.

Kids and adults rocking traditional ethnic attire moved to the beat as they enjoyed authentic flavors from around the world.

It was quite a celebration of the cultures that make up their beautiful school community where over 50 languages are spoken! Big shout out to Michael Spencer and PBA’s principal Drew Schutz, for helping to make this happen.

Michael Spencer shown playing the Batá drum is an expert percussionist and an educator at PBA.

Check out a clip on our official Instagram for a glimpse into the evening’s performance.
