Los Muñequitos de Matanzas perform to commemorate their 70th anniversary.

The rumba, a World Heritage Site, has one of its best performers and worshipers in the group Los Muñequitos de Matanzas. This October 9, the group celebrated the 70th anniversary of its foundation, which occurred in the La Marina neighborhood of Matanzas, Cuba. For seven decades, Los Muñequitos have performed and recorded, becoming one of the most successful and critically acclaimed rumba groups of all time.

In the 19th century, the rumba emerged in Cuba from its African roots. Today, the rumba is considered the mother of other Latin rhythms and dances scattered throughout the world.

The rumba calls and as Nicolas Guillén says in the sóngoro cosongo: «Here the one who thinks is the finest, Answers if I call».
